The Voice of a Trumpet Speaking

The Voice of a Trumpet Speaking

"The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city...But the angels reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door. Then they struck the (evil, homosexual) men, who were at the door of the house...with blindness so that they could not find the door. The angels said to Lot, "Do you have anyone else here...who belongs to you? Get them out of here because we are going to destroy this place...so Lot went out and spoke to his (family). He said, 'Hurry and get out of this place, because the Lord is about to destroy the city!' But his sons-in-law thought he was joking."

"With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, 'Hurry, take your wife and daughters...or you will be swept away when the city is punished. When he (Lot) hesitated, the angels grasped the hands of his wife and daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them...one of the angels said to Lot, 'I will not overthrow Zoar, but flee there quickly, because I cannot do anything until you reach it...'"

"Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah-from the Lord out of the heavens...but Lot's wife looked back and she became a pillar of salt. God brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived."

Lot's wife had no desire to leave the cities that were being judged, because she "looked back" and desired the world system. She became a pillar of salt. During the great tribulation, the Christians who have either desired the world system when deliverance comes in the catching away of the waiting saints, or those saved during that time of judgment, will be "salt" on the earth, preserving it from total destruction, at what cost! Many will give their lives for their faith, however, according to Revelation 7:9-17. Not until Revelation 19:7-9, is the ENTIRE bride ready for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, because "His wife has made herself ready." The whole Bride of Christ was not ready for the Marriage Supper until the end of the judgments in Revelation. Where would you rather be, on earth as salt during tribulation, a time which has never been seen before and will never be seen again, as Jesus said, or in heaven, with Jesus, surrounded by His glory? Jesus said, in His teaching about His coming, "Remember Lot's wife." Luke 17:32

The witness of Noah and the safety of the Ark speaks of being taken out of judgment for the true believers in Jesus. Only Noah and his family were saved from the great flood because they believed God. Noah built the Ark, while being mocked and ridiculed, but when the day came for the flood to begin, God had the last laugh. Noah had preached to them for 120 years, but they would not believe. Jesus said that "As in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the coming of the Son of Man."

To the church of Philadelphia, which means "brotherly love" Jesus says, in red letters, in Revelation 3:8-11, "I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it: for you have a little strength, have kept My Word, and have not denied My name. Indeed, I will make those of the synagogue of satan, who say they are Jews (spiritually) and are not, but lie--indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you."

"Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. (still red letters, means this was spoken by Jesus, Himself) Behold, I am coming quickly! (red Letters) Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown." Rev. 3:10-11

After Jesus has spoken to the seven churches of Revelation 1-3, the number seven signifying completion of the Church Age, the events of Revelation 4 immediately begin to unfold. "After these things, in chapters 1-3, I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet (shofar) speaking with me, saying, 'Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.'" Revelation 4:1

"The voice of my Beloved! Behold, He comes leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills...my Beloved spoke, and said to me: "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone...The fig tree (Israel) puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grapes give a good smell." Many people will be saved during the tribulation, both Jews and Gentiles, but the tribulation is a different dispensation in itself. It is not the age of grace, because great judgment will be on the whole earth. "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away!" Song of Solomon 2:8, 10-13

Let's look at the similarities between Revelation 4:1, and the verses we cited in Song of Solomon 2. First, a very significant voice is speaking in both passages, that is, the Voice of our Beloved, Jesus Christ, our Lord. In Revelation, His Voice is speaking like a trumpet, a shofar, a sound which is meant to awaken and to sound an alarm. If the sound of a shofar doesn't wake you up, you must be dead. The second similarity, which is distinctive, is the call of the Lord to come away with Him. In Revelation 4, He is saying, "Come up here to heaven where I am," because the rest of the chapter describes the worship in heaven by the twenty-four elders and the living creatures. They are not on the earth, only in heaven.

In Song of Solomon, the Lord calls His Beloved to rise up and come away with Him, because He is leaping upon mountains, which represent kingdoms. He is in the process of overcoming (leaping on) and judging those kingdoms, and He wants to protect His Church "from the hour of temptation which is coming upon the whole world." Rev. 3:10 He says, "Rise up, and come away with Me." Jesus, Himself, will not remain bodily on the earth until after the tribulation, because He will catch away the saints, whose heart is toward Him, in the air, without His feet touching the earth. Seven years later, after the tribulation is finished, He will come to reign on the earth, bodily, for a thousand years. Revelation 19:11-20:4 When He comes to remain and rule the nations with a rod of iron, His feet will touch down on the Mount of Olives, which will be split north and south in half. Zechariah 14:1-5

"For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet (shofar) of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we, which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Comfort one another with these WORDS. 1 Thessalonians 16-17

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only" (Mat 24:36).

"Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him" (Mat 25:1-6)

"Take ye heed, watch and pray; for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the Master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly He find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch" (Mark 13:33-37).

"Knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light" (Rom 13:11-12).

"So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Cor 1:7).

"For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ" (Phil 3:20).

"Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand" (Phil 4:5).

"And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come" (1 Thess 1:10).

"Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober" (1 Thess 5:6).

"That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Tim 6:14).

"Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus" (Titus 2:13).

"So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation" (Heb 9:28).

"Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the Day approaching" (Heb 10:24-25).

"For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry" (Heb 10:37).

"Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door" (James 5:7-9).

"Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ" (1 Peter 1:13).

"But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer" (1 Peter 4:7).

"Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life" (Jude 1:21).

"Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown" (Rev 3:11).

"Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book" (Rev 22:7).

"He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus" (Rev 22:20).
