Honey in the Rock

"When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.” Psalm 27:8

The Lord is calling His Church to seek His face in this hour. We must know His will and hear His words, for He is our Father and our God, and only He can order our steps. Only He can act in our best interests.

Our Father knows all the stretches of straight road, all the intersections, and all the dangerous curves on the road of life. The only way we can know which way to go, which turns to take, which pitfalls to avoid, and how to stay in His Presence, is to seek His face.

When we seek His wonderful face, the Lord is delighted. The Bridegroom says, lovingly, to the Bride in Song of Solomon 2:14, “O My dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice: for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is beautiful.” This verse is so full of the Lord’s delight in us, His Bride. First, He calls us His dove, an endearing name that reveals His love for us and His grace toward us. He reminds us that we are in the clefts of the Rock, Jesus, for the Honey of His Presence is in the Rock.

Then, the Lord reveals to us that we are in the “secret places of the stairs,” a phrase which speaks of the hidden place in Him where we are protected. Another term for “stairs,” is “towers.” “The Name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10 As we abide in Him, seeking His face, and walking close by Him, we are in the safest place in all the universe.

The Lord wants to see the countenance of His Bride, and He wants to hear our voices, for our voices are sweet to Him, and our faces are beautiful to Him. Many times we bow our heads in prayer, or we may be face down on the floor praying, and this is good and joyful to the Lord. There are times, though, that we should feel free to be in His Presence with upturned faces, expressing our joy in Him, with His lovelight on our faces, fulfilling His joy.

“Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.”

In His grace and love,
