My Beloved and My Friend
 |
"Why should we desire your Beloved above others, O most beautiful of women, O Bride of Christ? What sets Him apart from others, that you should be lovesick for Him?
"Oh, let me tell you about Him, and you will see how truly magnificent and genuinely glorious He is!
My Beloved is radiant with a shining brilliance, as the sun that shines in its strength! He is glorious beyond description, filled with Light from heaven, eternal and beautiful! His countenance is full of health and might, and He is the chiefest among ten thousand!
His head is as the most fine gold, because of His Diety, and the locks of His hair are black, because of His humanity. My Beloved is all God and all man!
His eyes are as the eyes of doves, an attribute of His complete spiritual insight and discernment through His constant communion with the Holy Spirit. My Beloved knows every detail of your being and life, because He created you, and He loves you with a pure love. He knows your heart's deepest longings, and He feels your joys and your sorrows. He wants you to know Him and love Him, too. He has such spiritual insight and power because it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell.
My Beloved's cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers. When His atoning Blood ran down His face from the crown of thorns, He bore the sin and shame of all mankind willingly. His lips are like lilies, dripping with anointing. My Beloved speaks only words of purity, like the lilies, and every word is anointed with Power from on High. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord." The words of My Beloved will set you free! Do you see why I love Him so?
His hands are like rods of gold set with emerald and topaz, for they are the hands of God. The touch of the hand of Jesus, my Beloved, brings His glory into your life, and you will never be the same again. You will exchange your sins for His righteousness, your sickness for His health, and your anxieties for His peace. There is nothing else anywhere like the touch of His Presence and glory upon you.
His body is as bright ivory, overlaid with veins of sapphires. He is the Resurrection and the Life. All who trust in Him are part of His body, and each is placed as a living stone in Him by the Father. The blue color of the sapphires speak of the Holy Spirit, by Whom we are overshadowed in Him.
His legs are like strong and steady pillars of marble set upon bases of fine gold. His appearance is like Lebanon, excellent, stately, and majestic as the cedars. Marble and cedar speak of His everlasting kingdom, of which there shall be no end, because He is very God.
His voice and speech are exceedingly sweet; yes, he is altogether lovely, the whole of him delights and is precious. This is my Beloved, and this is my Friend."
Based on Song of Solomon 5:9-16
