The Lord Is a Man of Fire

The Lord is a Man of fire. His jealous love burns fervently for His own. For those who have been called by His Name, for those who have died to themselves at His Cross and received His new life, for the oppressed and the captives, for the widows and the orphans, for those who have never known His Name, He burns for their deliverance, their salvation, and for their hearts to be set on fire with His consuming flame.

“And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

And I saw as the color of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.” Ezekiel 1:26-27 (KJV)

The Lord showed this vision of Himself to Ezekiel as a revelation of the burning desire of the Lord to see His righteous purposes and plans come to pass in the earth. “The earth is the Lord’s and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it.” Psalm 24:1 (NASB) Where is the man, men or creature who thinks that fighting against the Lord and His purposes is even a remote possibility? All who have tried have failed miserably, and, unless those who oppose the Lord and His children learn this truth, they are doomed to failure.

When Pharaoh pursued the children of Israel in their exodus from Egypt, after withstanding Moses and Aaron ten times, the armies of Pharaoh were drowned in the sea by the hand of the Living God. All of Egypt’s fame and power and mighty warriors and horses were helpless as they tried to defy the God of heaven and earth.

“Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.

The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.

Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.

And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.

Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.

Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.

The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.

Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.

Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O LORD, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.

Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O LORD, which thy hands have established.

The LORD shall reign for ever and ever.

For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.” Exodus 15:1-19 (KJV)

After reading this passage, how can anyone sincerely believe that any enemy, be it man or demon, can fight against God and win? Even the most renowned and powerful nation at that time, Egypt, had its Pharaoh and his army decimated at the breath of the nostrils of the Lord. “Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”

It is no secret to anyone reading this article, that enemy gods, including those who incite terrorism and false religion, have been attempting to fight against the Lord and those nations who are called by His Name, for some years.

Have they seen the fiery might of the Lord? They do not yet know that His appearance is like that “of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about,” as Ezekiel saw in the vision.

They do not yet know that “His eyes are as a flame of fire,” as John saw Him in the Book of Revelation.

“And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;” Revelation 1:16-19 (KJV)

Any nation or person who chooses to stand against the Lord will meet with His awesome and terrible power to be Who He is. There is no one like the Lord. Nothing can overcome Him, for He is from everlasting to everlasting.

The Living God is the one Who “can rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might flow down at His Presence, as when the melting fire burns, the fire causes the waters to boil, to make Thy Name known to Thy adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Thy Presence.” Isaiah 64:1-2 Come, O Lord, and rend the heavens that the mountains that stand in Your way, might flow down at Your Presence. You are the Potter, and we are the clay. All who want to be the friend of God, instead of His enemy, will kneel at the foot of the Cross of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, repenting of all sin, dying to self, and taking up the cross, following Jesus.

“And I will sanctify My great Name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.” Ezekiel 36:23 (KJV)

The Lord will not continue to allow His Name to be profaned. He will move in such a way that His Name will be sanctified, or vindicated, for He is holy, and He is God. “For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:24-26 (KJV)

The white hot love of the Lord is burning in this day for all who are His own, and for those who are yet to be His own, to forsake all other gods, and to love Him with the whole heart, mind, and strength. Those who spurn His love by rejecting the atoning Sacrifice of God’s Son, Jesus, through His Shed Blood, will know the fire of His wrath, under which no one can stand, instead of knowing the fire of His love. The Lord would so much prefer that all would experience the fire of His love.
