Christ Alone!

"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." 2 Cor. 11:3

When confusion tries to crowd out the voice of the Holy Spirit in our lives, as Christians, it is good for us to remember that we are to hold on to the "simplicity that is in Christ." "Haplotes" is the Greek word that is translated "simplicity" in this verse. "Haplotes" means "singleness."

This makes it easier for me to understand what the Apostle Paul meant when he said that we should "not be corrupted from the simplicity of Christ." We are to be single-hearted and single-minded toward Jesus, our Savior and Bridegroom. Christ alone! He is the One Who saved us, the One Who keeps us, and the One Who abides in and with us. He is the Living Word, from Which we are not to depart, lest we are beguiled as Eve was by the serpent.

When Mary told the servants at the wedding of Cana, "Whatsoever He says unto you, do it," she was speaking pure truth.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it." John 1:1-5

Jesus is the Word made flesh. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:14

We must never lose sight of Him. We are to be single-hearted, single-minded, and "single-eyed." The Bridegroom tells the Bride that she has doves' eyes. Doves are single-eyed in their devotion to their mates. They remain together for life. "The light of the body is the eye: Therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body is full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness." Luke 11:34-35

There is no other Redeemer, but Christ alone!
