Jesus Is the Living Word

Some time ago, the Holy Spirit used the attributes of Jesus and the facets of His Person, in the books of the Bible, to write on my heart, the revelation that Jesus truly is the Word of God. Holy Spirit knows exactly which part of the Living Bread, the Word, we need at every moment. As we eat the Word through study and prayer, Holy Spirit brings to our remembrance the Word that we need to believe in our hearts in any given situation.

Paul told the Corinthians in 2 Cor. 4:13, "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore I have spoken; we also believe, and therefore we speak (according as it is written in the Word of God);
Whatever we believe, we will speak. If we believe the Word, we will speak it, whether it is the Word leading to salvation from sin, or any other blessing which the Lord has included in His great salvation - healing, deliverance, peace of mind, provision, family, revival, holy living...

Even in our salvation experience, we believe and we speak. Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."

Jesus said in the gospels, "If you deny me before men, I will deny you before My father Who is in heaven." When we believe the Word, we will speak it. A simple example of this biblical principle is seen over and over in our daily lives. Looking at the calendar, you see what the date is, and you have no problem telling others, or speaking, because you believe, that the calendar is accurate or true. Likewise, as we believe the Word of God, we speak it, just as surely as we would have no qualms about telling someone what date it is according to the calendar. The Holy Spirit is the revealer of the Word, because He spoke it through holy men of old, directly from the heart of God. As we ask the Father for the revelation of the Word of God, the Holy Spirit is ready, willing and able to lead us into all truth. John 16

The Bible so completely reveals Jesus as the Word of God, that He can be seen on every page. Every book of the Bible reveals Jesus progressively until we come to the most revealing, the Book of Revelation, which is actually The Revelation of Jesus Christ, as it is entitled in the KJV.

Here are some of the facets of the Person of Jesus as revealed in a portion of the books. ( I won't go through all 66 books, but the same is true for each one.)

Genesis - Jesus is the Creator. John 1

Exodus - Jesus is the Passover Lamb. Seen throughout the Bible

Leviticus - Jesus is the Lawgiver. - The law was a schoolmaster to lead us to Jesus. He fulfilled all of the law in His death, burial, and resurrection.

Numbers - Jesus is our Redeemer and Healer. Moses gave instructions for the serpent to be lifted up in the wilderness, so that the plague would be stayed. Jesus said, "And I, if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto Me." This foreshadows the Cross where Jesus bore both our sins and our sicknesses.

Judges - Jesus is Wisdom (also in Proverbs)

Ruth - Jesus is the Kinsman Redeemer, as seen in Boaz.

Ezra - Jesus the Keeper of the Word (Ezra was a scribe), and Jesus the Intercessor

Nehemiah - Jesus, the Repairer of the Breach and the Restorer of Paths to Dwell In (Isaiah)

Psalms - Jesus, Our Strength and Our Redeemer, Our Joy, the King of Glory

Song of Solomon - Jesus, the Bridegroom and Lover of Our Souls

Isaiah - Jesus, Our Sin-Bearer, Healer, and Salvation

Jeremiah - Jesus, the One Who Weeps over Jerusalem

Ezekiel - Jesus, the Man on Fire from the Waist Up and the Waist Down, Jesus, the Wheel within the Wheel

Daniel - Jesus, the Fourth Man in the Furnace

Hosea - The Lord, the Redeemer and Husband of Israel

Micah - Jesus, the Babe of Bethlehem

Malachi - Jesus, the Son of Righteousness Who Has Arisen with Healing in His Wings

Matthew - Jesus, the Son of God

Mark - Jesus, the Son of Man

Luke - Jesus, the Deliverer from Evil

John - Jesus, the Lamb of God Who Takes Away the Sin of the World

Acts - Jesus, the Miracle -Worker, the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit

Romans - Jesus, the One Who Frees Us from the Law of Sin and Death and Gives Us the Law of the Spirit of Life in Him

1 and 2 Corinthians - Jesus, the Instructor in Righteous Living

Galatians - Jesus, the One Who Keeps Us Free from Sin

Ephesians - Jesus, the Head of the Church

Philippians - Jesus, the One Who Made Himself of No Reputation (His Father gave Him His reputation and He accepted it, not thinking it robbery to be called equal with God, because He is God) ( Whatever the Father wills to entrust us with, we are to accept it with humility and responsibility)

Colossians - Jesus, the Giver of the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the Knowledge of Him, the Fullness of the Godhead

1 and 2 Timothy - Jesus, the Pastor and Prophet

Titus - Jesus, the Merciful Savior

1 and 2 Thessalonians - Jesus, the Soon-Coming King

Hebrews - Jesus, the Better Covenant

James - Jesus, the Word, Discerner of Hearts

1 and 2 Peter - Jesus, the Incorruptible Seed of the Word of God

1, 2, 3, John - Jesus, the God of Love

Revelation - Jesus, the Revelation of God to Man and the Revealer of Things That Are to Come, the One Who Was, Who Is, and Who Is to Come

The Holy Spirit used the attributes of Jesus in the books of the Bible to write on my heart, the revelation that Jesus truly is the Word of God. This is by no means an exhaustive list of the attributes of Jesus in the Bible, but it is a portion of them.
