The Glory of the Cross
Word given on 9-19-07
We will glory in the Cross, we will glory in the Cross, because that’s where Jesus gave His precious Life. The serpent seeks the precious life. The enemy sought His Precious Life, according to the Word of God. Proverbs 6:26 But the devil didn’t know what he was doing! He would have never crucified the Lord of glory, if he had any idea what change, what glory, what peace, what freedom, and what salvation, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus would bring to the people upon this earth, to all who will believe upon Him. (Father, we’re so thankful, we’re so thankful). Beautiful flowers do grow, Father, in the Spirit, upon the Cross of Calvary, because it was in the suffering of Jesus that Life sprang forth and hope became eternal. Grace still flows down, in a figure, in a beautiful and tremendous cascade of blood-red flowers, which represents the cleansing streams of the life-giving Blood of Jesus on the Cross. From those rugged timbers, the Blood that flowed, on that darkest of days, still brings eternal life and joy to all who are washed in it. Out of the darkness, the Light has shone. Oh, my Father, we will glory in the cross. We boast only in the cross of Jesus, and in Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. His death, burial, and resurrection have brought new life to us and all who shall believe. Give us a greater revelation of the Cross of Jesus, in portions we that can absorb, because we can’t possibly bear it all at one time, Lord. “That I may know Him in the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of his suffering, loving not my life unto the death…Philippians 3:10 Death unto self and what I want..Not my will, but Thy will...That we may truly KNOW Him in the power of His resurrection... “Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away, and, behold, all things have become new. 2 Cor. 5:17 He who knew no sin…what love divine, all loves excelling, what glory, what grace, what beauty, what holiness, what love, what purity! Thank You, Father, for loving us as You do. Help us to love You with our whole hearts and lives, Father, in Jesus’ Name, we pray. Strengthen the resolve of Your children to go forth in Your Name, proclaiming your word, as you have called us to do, to feed your sheep, to feed your lambs, to preach the gospel to the regions beyond… Each of us, whether we realized it at the time or not, said, as we drank the cup of the covenant, the cup of Your blood, “I will go,” just as Rebecca proclaimed, without ever having seen Isaac, when she drank the marriage cup in betrothal to him, a foreshadowing of Jesus and His Church. Genesis 24 When we received Him in salvation, we also said, I’m “ready to go, ready to stay, ready my place to fill. Ready for service, lowly or great, ready to do His will.” There are people who are dying, inside, all around us, and people in other nations, perishing daily. Will you go? Will I go? I believe there is a resounding “Yes, I will go!” reverberating through the heavens from the body of Christ around the world, in response to these two questions. The regions beyond may be in our home towns, on our block, or in another nation. Jesus will show us. We worship You. How wonderful you are, O Lord. Thank you for the fellowship of brothers and sisters in Christ. Bless each one. “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” Galatians 6:14 Betty Seiley Redeemer Church
